This part fits the 12x16, 12x12 and 10x10 Cabin Lodge Stove-Ready tents.
This pole comes standard with the 12x16 and 12x12 Cabin Lodge SR tents. It DOES NOT come standard with the 10x10 Cabin Lodge tent and must be purchased separately here if desired (it is not required on that tent).
The purpose of the Roof Support Pole is to provide added support to the Ridge Pole in snow or windy conditions.
If you do not anticipate snow or strong winds on your trip, this pole is not needed.

I purchased the 16x20 4-seasons tent last fall. This winter in southern Wisconsin was very mild. Mildest in History. We one had 3-8 in. Snow. Relatively heavy snow. This center pole suffered catastrophic failure. The tent tore at both ends of the roof at the gable seam junction with the entry panels. The company replaced the poles, but would not honor the warranty due to the snow. Word of caution! This is not a 4-seasons tent. It will not stand up to even the lightest snow. If this is your intention consider adding additional reinforcement. Other than that, we love the tent.

Anthony, thank you for your honest review. Our tents truly are 4-season tents, you can comfortably camp in them all year-round. However, snow-load is a different topic. We can't advise on how much snow is ok as the water content of snow varies so greatly. As you mentioned, a heavy/wet 3-8' can be worse than 16' of dry snow. Our recommendation is to always keep snow off your tent. And never leave your tent up unattended if snow is in the forecast. We do warranty manufacturer's defects, but we don't warranty 'Acts of God'.
